STAX – A gourmet burger joint found right off of Carnaby Street in Kingly Court, first floor or to be exact at:
1.7 Kingly Court, Kingly Court, London W1B 5PW
Nearest Station Oxford StreetSo how did I come across this place? Not going to lie, I became a sheep and followed the hype on Instagram surrounding this place and it’s been on my bucket list of restaurants to visit since. I mean where I live in England it’s extremely hard to come by decent halal restaurants, especially ones that are gimmicky and fun like this joint. So me and my friends made the hour and a half venture into London and we were all a little disappointed to be honest…
So the menu is full of amazing (won’t ever finish them) burgers! When I was reading the menu I was already drooling and I knew exactly what I wanted…
“T H E S T A X I N S A N I T Y”
A humongous stacked burger with mature cheddar, two onion rings, maple glazed bacon, and house made hot sauce – I was having a cheat day that day and added on a fried chicken!
Sounds amazing right? and yeah it was for part of it. Let me break it down for you, the patty was freshly made because you can see into the kitchen, which is great, but it was
burnt slightly overcooked – I mean I know I asked for well done but this was a bit too much for my liking, and I wasn’t going to ask for another one because our table was the last table and I knew they were closing the kitchen I wasn’t going to bother them. As for the maple glazed bacon – that too was burnt overcooked. This time I knew it wasn’t myself that felt this way because the other girls agreed the fake ‘bacon’ tasted “off” – it wasn’t nice and palatable and definitely left an ‘off‘ aftertaste. So I pulled my burger apart and ate everything individually.
The onion rings were the best bits for me as the batter was amazing, especially with their house hot sauce, which was fiery hot – I mean I’m asian and my family loove spicy food, but this was HOT! The chicken too with the hot sauce was really good (basic but good)! As you can imagine I didn’t finish eating this huge burger despite the empty stomach I arrived in. We had ordered a side of family cajun fries to share with come-back sauce < now this sauce is delicious! I think it was described as a herby mayo. For me the fries was my favourite part of my meal; but I mean I would never come back for the fries alone.
Interrupting you for a quick OOTD, coz why not right? – trying to suck in my stomach after a meal, which clearly isn’t working…

Despite the great atmosphere, location, setting, cajun chips and music I would NOT come back here. I mean the company was great, and it was nice to have a rare girly get together after a long time, but we were all a little dissatisfied with what was put on the table considering the hype, the burger itself was bland/ burnt. Don’t get me wrong I’m glad I’ve experienced it but for the price and standard of the food alone I wouldn’t spend my money here again, there are so many more nicer, TASTIER burger joints out there. I mean TinselTown offer more flavour on their burgers than this place, and I know we’ve all been there! haha
Before I conclude, I just need to say the staff are lovely and accommodating even if they are a little rushed in the small restaurant.
p.s. They ran out of buns, this place seems to run out of stock quite often, and their waiting time is long too – so factor that in if you’re planning on visiting, although I wouldn’t recommend it – definitely not worth the deer prices xoxo
